Delawareans are obsessed with online shopping.

In fact, a new study shows the First State is 7th in the nation when it comes to online shopping hotspots.

A new report from SwishDM, an SEO agency specializing in digital marketing strategies for Ecommerce, indicates Delaware in the 7 slot with an obsession score of 38.3.

To assess which state was the most obsessed with online shopping, SwishDM used Google Ads to find the average number of monthly searches for three shopping-related keywords: online shopping, internet shopping, and shop online.

They then divided that number by the population of each state to calculate the search intensity score, which is called the “obsession score.”

Online shopping has become a staple of consumerism with the ability to shop from the comfort of home to save time.

Worldwide revenue from ecommerce came to $2.19 trillion in 2019; that figure jumped to $4.12 trillion in 2024 and is predicted to hit a staggering $6.49 trillion by 2029.

Unsurprisingly, New York ranks 1st with obsession score of 41.71.

Delaware is sandwiched by New Jersey in the 6 slot and Oregon at 8th.
