Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover has opened a search for a creative mural artist to design and execute a temporary indoor mural.

Museum leadership wants the artist to create a piece to transform the museum’s space and engage the community.

“Our intention for this mural project is to create an opportunity for collaboration with artists in our community, while also working to energize our new programming space,” said Kate Huffman, director of learning and engagement at Biggs.

The museum is located at 406 Federal Street in Dover, the landscape dimension is 28×7 feet, and the theme is any creative ideas, but preference to some connection to the Biggs Collection the community.

The medium (materials used by the artist) should be temporary, non-damaging materials, like removable paint, vinyl, or other adaptable media, and the project installation is set to begin in mid-April.

“The space in which the work will be going, on the first floor of the museum, will now be the home to a more diverse and abundant array of public activities and events,” Huffman said. “We expect to have a very broad audience interact with this work throughout its time on view at the Biggs.”
