Delaware young people aged 18-25 who responded to a survey by career.io asking their preferred university and preferred first employer, chose the University of Delaware + DuPont combination as their top career path.

The second and third combination among young Delawareans was Delaware State + Navient (student loan servicing company) and Goldey-Beacom College to W.L. Gore & Associates.

There was little indication from career.io, an all-in-one platform for career guidance and success, as to the extent to which the respondents wanted to stay in-state for college or to leave the state for their first job. That said, of all 3,018 respondents, 63% said they were ready to pack their bags for a more prestigious school, while the other 37% preferred the comfort and convenience of staying closer to home.

As for the “winning combination” for young Delawareans, the release says “the University of Delaware’s reputation for research excellence, particularly in engineering and the sciences, aligns perfectly with the innovative work of DuPont. As a global leader in materials science and biotechnology, DuPont provides graduates with the opportunity to turn their academic expertise into real-world advancements. This connection highlights Delaware’s legacy of fostering talent in science and technology.”
