DMA, Smyrna, Caesar Rodney, Cape Henlopen, Salesianum pick up January 15 wrestling wins

Five matches on Wednesday, January 15. None of them were particularly close.

Delaware Military 45 – Cape Henlopen 25

Delaware Military Academy picked up a non-conference road win, taking nine bouts en route to a 45-25 victory.

William Martin (157), Cael DeNigris (285), Griffin Glenn (106), Piero Papili (138), and Jackson Grandel (144) all recorded pins for the Seahawks. Justin Ryland (165) added a technical fall.

Yusuf Smith (175) and Patrick Donahue (215) had pins for the Vikings, while Austin Guerrieri (120) recorded a technical fall.

Delaware Military will compete in the Canal Classic this weekend. Cape Henlopen will host William Penn on Saturday.

Smyrna 45 – Sussex Tech 27

The Smyrna Eagles recorded eight pins Wednesday night, defeating Sussex Tech 45-27 in a Henlopen Conference Northern Division match.

Michael Pierson (106), Warren Coates (138), Ian Alfree (144), Carson Casey (150), Teagan Gratkowski (190), Mason Schulenburg (215) and Takai Fearon (285) all had pins for the Eagles.

Dustin Elliott (157) and Kayden Bennett (175) had pins for the Ravens, while Bennett Brumbley (165) recorded a technical fall.

Smyrna improved to 4-4 overall and 2-0 in the Henlopen North and will travel to Caesar Rodney Friday night. Sussex Tech fell to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the Henlopen North. The Ravens will travel to Milford on Friday.

Caesar Rodney 50 – Milford 27

The Riders won nine bouts with bonus points on Wednesday night en route to a 50-27 Henlopen North victory over Milford.

Gavin Robbins (113), Alex Batton (126), Sean Dixon (144), J.J. Spence (150), and Craig Dixon (165) all recorded pins for Caesar Rodney. Ben Donato (106) and Jeremiah Heath (175) each recorded technical falls. Trevor Copes (150) received a forfeit.

Autumn Littleton (120), Danny McElwee (132), and Greg Lockett (285) had pins for Milford.

Caesar Rodney improved to 3-0 on the season, 1-0 in the Henlopen North and will host rival Smyrna on Friday night. Milford fell to 5-3 overall and 0-3 in the Henlopen North. The Bucs host Sussex Tech on Friday night.

Cape Henlopen 53 – Polytech 19

The Cape Henlopen Vikings won 10 of 14 bouts in their 53-19 Henlopen Conference Northern Division victory.

Carson Tuer (165), Patrick Donahue (215), Austin Guerrieri (120), Cale Baker (126), Tripp Gannon (132), Colin Pouli (144), and Nick Walker (150) all had pins for the Vikings.

Carter Dulin (175) and Navain Cooper (285) recorded pins for the Panthers.

Cape Henlopen will host William Penn on Saturday. Polytech fell to 1-2 on the season and will host Caesar Rodney on Saturday morning.

Salesianum 45 – St. Mark’s 23

On Wednesday night, Salesianum used seven pins to defeat St. Mark’s 45-23.

Mason Catania (106), Gabe Campanelli (113), Santino Sianni (138), Ricky Jewell (150), and Cameron Black (285) all had pins for the Sals. Dominic Lucian (126) and Brayden Ranauto (215) received forfeits.

Alec Baxley (157) had a pin for the Spartans.

Salesianum improved to 3-2 on the season and will host Delaware Military Academy next Wednesday night. St. Mark’s improved to 2-2 and will compete in the Canal Classic this weekend.
