Winners and state officials celebrate the 2024 EDGE Grant awards.

The Delaware Division of Small Business (DSB) will hold an online information session for its EDGE Grant program on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 10 a.m. to help potential applicants prepare for applications for its February funding round.

EDGE stands for the Encouraging Development, Growth, and Expansion (EDGE) program. a competition for grant funding. Five STEM-based (science/technology/engineering/math) companies can each receive up to $100,000 for eligible expenses, while five Entrepreneur Class (non-STEM) businesses can each receive up to $50,000.

DSB introduced the program in 2019 under former Governor John Carney and has awarded $7.25 million to 110 small businesses through Fall 2024 — 60 of them in the Entrepreneur Class and 50 in the STEM Class. Of those 110, 95 are still in business following the pandemic, according to a DSB spokesperson.

The program operates with two rounds per year — one in February and one in August. The Fall 2024 round saw 86 applicants.

The webinar will help attendees learn the elements needed for a successful application. Speakers include DSB’s director and business unit finance d

irector, a previous EDGE winner, and staff from the Delaware Small Business Development Center partners.
