The annual State of the State is back Thursday, in which first-year Governor Matt Meyer will address the Delaware public.
The Democrat governor will deliver his speech during a joint session of the state’s legislature in Dover.
A State of the State address is a speech given by a governor of a U.S. state, usually once a year, to outline the current condition of the state and propose legislative priorities or goals for the upcoming year.

It’s similar to the State of the Union address that the U.S. President gives, but at the state level.
Key purposes of the address:
– Report on the state’s condition: Economy, education, healthcare, infrastructure, etc.
– Propose new policies or laws
– Highlight achievements and challenges
– Set the tone for the legislative session
Thursday’s address starts at 2:30 p.m. Watch it live here.
