Del. Breast Cancer Coalition reshapes with 2 new board members

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) has announced the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors: Beth B. Miller, an attorney from New Castle County, and Melissa Hovatter, a Maryland resident and advocate for breast cancer awareness.

These individuals bring valuable experience and unique perspectives that will strengthen the organization’s efforts to support those affected by breast cancer in Delaware, the organization states.

“We are thrilled to welcome Beth and Melissa to our Board,” said Francesca Vogel, DBCC CEO. “Their diverse backgrounds and dedication to community service will be invaluable assets as we continue to advance our mission of providing support, education, and advocacy for those affected by breast cancer.”

Beth B. Miller, a practicing attorney, resides in New Castle County with her family.

Outside of her legal career, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Steve, and their children, Annabelle and Davis, on their farm in York County, Pa.

In addition to her family life, Miller is an active member of her community and brings a wealth of experience to the board.

Melissa Hovatter, who lives in Maryland, has a deep personal connection to the fight against breast cancer.

Having learned of her paternal grandmother’s battle with breast cancer at the young age of 42, Hovatter understands the importance of early detection and prevention.

“I wanted to join the board of the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition because I feel deeply connected to the organization’s mission,” Hovatter said.

Her personal history, coupled with the impact breast cancer has had on many of her family members and friends, has fueled her passion for supporting the cause.

Both Miller and Hovatter will join an experienced board of directors, which is led by President Dr. Avani Virani.

Under their leadership, the DBCC continues to expand its programs and services throughout Delaware, working to raise awareness and increase access to care for those affected by breast cancer.

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering its community through outreach, education, and support services.

With offices in Wilmington, Kent, and Sussex Counties, DBCC offers programs designed to promote early detection, reduce barriers to care, and provide survivors with the resources they need to thrive.
