The center is closed from October through March.
The DuPont Nature Center’s deck provides visitors with exceptional views of wildlife, including the annual spawning of horseshoe crabs and the migration of shorebirds, such as the federally threatened red knots. These birds rely on horseshoe crab eggs to sustain their 9,000-mile journey to the Arctic.
Inside the center, guests can explore interactive exhibits that highlight the environmental and historical significance of the Mispillion Harbor. New this season, the center has introduced additional exhibits to help deepen visitors’ understanding of the local aquatic species.
The center also features live cameras offering real-time views of nesting osprey and other wildlife in the area, available online here.
Admission to the DuPont Nature Center is free, and the center is located at 2992 Lighthouse Road, near Slaughter Beach.
