Broadway in Wilmington announces new season featuring fan favorites

WILMINGTON- The Playhouse on Rodney Square has announced its 2025/26 Broadway in Wilmington season, featuring a lineup that includes Mrs. Doubtfire, The Book of Mormon, Kinky Boots, and Meredith Willson’s The Music Man.

Subscriptions for the new season are now available, with single ticket sales expected to open later this summer.

“The Playhouse on Rodney Square’s 25/26 season celebrates the return of The Book of Mormon, Kinky Boots, and Meredith Willson’s The Music Man to our stage,” said Skip Pennella, Executive Director of The Grand.

“Additionally, audiences will thoroughly enjoy the Playhouse premiere of Mrs. Doubtfire this fall. Our entire team is eager to welcome you to Wilmington for a one-of-a-kind Broadway experience.”

Mrs. Doubtfire (September 26-28, 2025) – Based on the popular film, this musical follows an out-of-work actor who disguises himself as a Scottish nanny to maintain a connection with his children. The show has received praise for its humor and heartwarming story.

The Book of Mormon (March 27-29, 2026) – The Tony Award-winning musical comedy, created by the writers of South Park, follows two missionaries on an unexpected journey. The production, known for its satirical humor, has been widely acclaimed since its debut.

Kinky Boots (May 8-10, 2026) – This award-winning musical, featuring music by Cyndi Lauper, tells the story of a struggling shoe factory that finds success with an unlikely business venture. The production returns to Wilmington following past successful runs.

Meredith Willson’s The Music Man (June 5-7, 2026) – A classic Broadway production, The Music Man follows a conman whose scheme to sell instruments to a small town takes an unexpected turn when he falls for the local librarian.

All performances will be held at the Playhouse on Rodney Square, which recently underwent extensive renovations. The venue, attached to the historic Hotel DuPont, offers dining options including Le Cavalier and Casa Nonna, as well as access to the Stage Door Pass program for additional local dining experiences.
