WILMINGTON- Nurses and healthcare professionals gathered across ChristianaCare’s campuses to celebrate a long-anticipated milestone, the organization’s fourth consecutive Magnet designation.
“For your commitment to nursing excellence and quality care, we are thrilled to recognize ChristianaCare with its fourth consecutive Magnet designation,”said David Marshall, J.D., DNP, RN, chair of the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC).
“This accomplishment is a powerful testament to your dedication to the nurses who practice there, the entire health care team, and — most importantly — the patients you serve,” he said.
ChristianaCare now holds the distinction of being the only four-time Magnet-designated healthcare organization in Delaware—a global recognition representing the highest honor in nursing practice.
The Magnet Recognition Program, administered by the ANCC, is the gold standard for nursing excellence, setting a benchmark for quality patient care, nurse engagement, and professionalism in nursing practice.
ChristianaCare’s latest designation, which extends through early 2029, encompasses Christiana Hospital, Wilmington Hospital, ChristianaCare HomeHealth, and Community Care Services.
“A fourth Magnet designation is an incredible achievement and reflects the vital importance and commitment of our nurses as we serve together with love and excellence, ”said ChristianaCare President and CEO Janice E. Nevin, M.D., MPH.

ChristianaCare nurses, numbering over 3,000, make up the largest segment of the organization’s workforce and play a pivotal role in sustaining these high standards.
ChristianaCare was first awarded Magnet status in 2010.
“That is a long time to bring your ‘A’ game every day — through 15 years of change, including a pandemic — and to sustain growth in professional practice, innovation, and culture,” said ChristianaCare Chief Nurse Executive Danielle Weber, DNP, MSM, RN-BC, NEA-BC.
For many nurses, Magnet designation represents more than an accolade, but a reflection of the culture they experience daily.
“Magnet captures a culture at ChristianaCare where nurses support one another and continually improve patient care,” said Ingrid Hausner, BSN, RN, a nurse in the Cardiovascular Critical Care Complex.
With a strong commitment to excellence, innovation, and patient-centered care, ChristianaCare continues to lead the way in nursing excellence.
