Ever wondered what the coolest aspects of the First State are?

Well, there’s a contest that will award THE coolest.

And the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce (DSCC) and its affiliate, the Delaware Manufacturing Association (DMA), have unveiled the top eight finalists in the 2025 Coolest Thing Made in Delaware contest, a competition that celebrates the state’s vibrant manufacturing sector.

With more than 29,000 jobs linked to the industry, the contest underscores the importance of manufacturing in driving Delaware’s economy.

The competition began with 51 products from 44 companies, and after a public voting round, the field has now been narrowed down to eight. These products will continue to compete in a bracket-style contest, with voters able to cast their votes once a day, per device, here.

Here are the finalists vying for the title of Coolest Thing Made in Delaware:

1. Agilent Technologies – Resolve Handheld Raman Spectrometer
Made in Wilmington, this portable device uses advanced technology to detect hazardous substances through barriers, offering crucial support for first responders dealing with explosives, narcotics, and chemicals.

2. Dogfish Head Craft Brewery – 60 Minute IPA
Brewed in Milton, this groundbreaking IPA revolutionized craft beer with its continual hopping method, creating a flavor that has become a gold standard in the industry.

3. Hopkin’s Farm Creamery – Apple Pie Ice Cream
A family-owned business in Lewes since 1942, Hopkins Farm Creamery is known for its Apple Pie Ice Cream, a fan-favorite flavor perfected over four generations.

4. ILC Dover – Spacesuits
Manufactured in Frederica, ILC Dover’s spacesuits have been integral to over 250 flights, six moon landings, and 3,000+ hours of spacewalks, all without a single failure.

5. Mountaire Farms – Chicken Wings
A staple in Super Bowl celebrations, Mountaire Farms, based in Sussex County, processes millions of pounds of chicken wings annually, contributing to the 1.47 billion wings consumed during the big game.

6. RAPA – Scrapple
A Delaware breakfast classic since 1926, RAPA Scrapple is the best-selling scrapple brand in the U.S., still made in Bridgeville using the same recipe for nearly 100 years.

7. Staging Dimensions – Hot Wheels Double Dare Loop
Based in New Castle, Staging Dimensions built the life-sized Hot Wheels Double Dare Loop, a thrilling 66-foot stunt track that featured cars racing through the loop at 52 mph at the X Games in Los Angeles.

8. SUMURI LLC – TALINO Forensic Workstations
Designed and built in Magnolia, DE, SUMURI’s TALINO workstations are used by law enforcement, military, and top corporations to solve digital crimes with unmatched speed and efficiency.

The Coolest Thing Made in Delaware contest will culminate with the announcement of the winner at the Spring Manufacturing & Policy Conference on March 27 at Delaware Technical Community College’s Terry Campus in Dover.

The conference will feature keynote speakers, including Governor Matt Meyer and Gus Faucher, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist at PNC Financial Services Group.

Voting for the second round of the bracket begins today, with the top four products to be revealed on March 20. Final voting will continue until March 27, when the winner is crowned.
