The deadline for filing to run in the May 13 school board elections has passed, and after a handful of withdraws, 48 First Staters will compete for 28 open seats.

Those seats represent races in 16 of Delaware’s 19 school districts.

Candidates can drop out of the race at any time, and candidates without an opponent win the seat automatically.
