Division of Arts to boost donations, urges for more in Do More 24 campaign

Do More 24 runs from the night of March 6 through the night of March 7.

The Delaware Division of the Arts is ponying up to $200,000 in matching funds for Do More 24 Delaware, the largest day of giving in the state, which takes place from 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 6 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 7.

In a show of commitment to the arts, the division will match donations for its fiscal year 2025 arts organization grantees.

This initiative aims to maximize the impact of individual donations made on the DoMore24Delaware.org platform during the 24-hour fundraising period.

Now in its fifth year, the division’s “stretch pool” will reward arts organizations based on the amount of money raised and the number of unique donations received throughout the event, which is organized by United Way of Delaware and Spur Impact Association, and benefits nonprofits across the state.

Jessica Ball, director of the Division of the Arts, highlighted the critical role of individual giving in sustaining Delaware’s arts scene.

“Every dollar given by an individual donor is a powerful investment in Delaware’s creative economy,” she said. “These gifts not only fuel artistic innovation but also help unlock additional resources through our matching fund initiative, ensuring that the arts continue to thrive and connect our communities.”

Do More 24’s impact

Do More 24 Delaware has proven to be a powerful force in supporting local nonprofits. In 2024, the event raised over $2.3 million from more than 20,000 donors, benefiting over 500 Delaware nonprofits.

The Division of the Arts matching funds ensure that every donation—no matter how small—has an even greater impact, reinforcing the message that philanthropy is for everyone, not just major donors.

“The arts play a vital role in shaping our communities, and individual donors are the backbone of this support,” said Charlie Vincent, executive director of Spur Impact. “The Division’s matching funds amplify the generosity of Delawareans, stretching every contribution to help sustain and grow Delaware’s creative sector.”

Founded by United Way of Delaware in 2016, Do More 24 Delaware is a one-day statewide fundraising event in which nonprofits compete in a friendly, 24-hour campaign to raise essential funds.

In 2019, Spur Impact joined the effort, expanding Delaware’s largest giving day.

Nonprofits use creative outreach strategies to engage supporters, while additional cash incentives from corporate and foundation donors help drive further impact.
