Cab Calloway’s Anthony Gray-Bolden named 2025 Principal of Year

WILMINGTON – Anthony Gray-Bolden, Dean of Cab Calloway School of the Arts in the Red Clay Consolidated School District, has been named the 2025 Delaware Principal of the Year Award.

“I am truly honored to be recognized as Principal of the Year,” Bolden said. “This achievement is a testament to the incredible staff, teachers, students, families, and my dedicated administrative team that I work with every day.”

Cab Calloway School of the Arts is an exemplary place of learning, creativity, and excellence because of it collective hard work, passion, and commitment to its mission, he said.

The schools mission is: “Cab Calloway School of the Arts offers a rigorous learning experience that integrates the arts and academics to foster the growth of independent inquiry, critical and creative thinking, and the innovative application of acquired skills.”

“This recognition belongs to all of us” Bolden said.

Bolden’s impact

The award was given Monday morning by the Delaware Association of School Administrators (DASA).

“We’re excited to celebrate Dean Anthony Gray-Bolden for being named the 2025 Delaware Principal of the Year,” said Red Clay Superintendent Dorrell Green. “As a passionate and genuine leader, Anthony goes above and beyond for his students, staff, and the entire Cab community.”

Bolden’s visionary leadership truly makes Cab Calloway School of the Arts a fantastic place to learn and grow, Green said.

“We are fortunate to have him at the helm,” Green said. “This recognition showcases his incredible dedication and commitment to enhancing performing arts and education in the Red Clay Consolidated School District.”

The recognition was given at a ceremony in front of students, faculty, and staff — Gray-Bolden was surprised, as he was under the belief a state official was visiting the school for a separate matter.
