Black-owned Bridge Art Gallery opens new spot in Wilmington

The Bridge Art Gallery opens its Wilmington location Feb. 27.

WILMINGTON — The Bridge Art Gallery will celebrate the grand opening of its new location in Wilmington with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday, Feb. 27.

The new gallery, located at 213 North Market Street, is now the largest Black-owned art space in Wilmington, opening its doors just in time to conclude Black History Month.

The gallery is committed to fostering artistic creativity by showcasing a variety of art exhibitions from local, regional, and national artists.

As part of its community-driven mission, the Bridge Art Gallery will also offer children’s art classes and professional development opportunities for emerging and established artists.

“We are honored to be part of Wilmington’s arts landscape and look forward to engaging with the local community,” said Cheryl Mack, co-owner of the gallery, who also chairs the New Castle County Public Arts Commission. “The Bridge Art Gallery is a place where creativity thrives, and the voices of our artists are heard and celebrated.”

Christopher Mack, co-owner, highlighted the gallery’s role in fostering collaboration among diverse community stakeholders, from corporations and non-profits to small businesses and government entities.

“Our goal is to serve as a ‘bridge’ between all parts of the community, where everyone plays a key role in the thriving arts scene,” he said.

Guests at the ribbon-cutting ceremony will be able to experience the gallery’s inaugural exhibition, meet the featured artists, and learn more about the gallery’s future programming and community initiatives.

“The Bridge Art Gallery is an essential part of Wilmington’s growth,” said Yvonne Deadwyler, president of the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce.. “This new location strengthens the arts community and offers a valuable space for collaboration between artists and businesses.”

With the grand opening upcoming, the Bridge Art Gallery is poised to become a vital cultural and creative hub in Wilmington, offering a platform for local talent and fostering artistic innovation across the region.
