Milford Corporate Center, set to hold 27 businesses, breaks ground March 4

The city of Milford is set to have nearly 30 businesses fill up a brand new corporate center that will undergo construction in a couple weeks.

It will serve as a business park and the city in partnership with Emory Hill will sell 27 available lots to business owners to build their own built-to-suit.

The property is 180 acres, and is funded through grant programs such as Site Readiness and the Transportation Infrastructure Investment Fund (TIIF) .

The cost of the project is $17,990,784.19.

“The Milford Corporate Center is designed to accommodate both small and large tenants, leveraging its location along the Route 15 corridor,” said Lauren Swain, economic development and community engagement administrator for the city.

The development will feature public amenities like walking trails, adding to its appeal for potential tenants.

Along with business facilities, the site will include a new water tower and sewage pumping station to support the development.

“Additionally, the city plans to implement comprehensive signage and make essential road improvements, including a roundabout at the Canterbury Road and Airport Road intersection, to provide easy access to the park,” Swain said.

The Milford Corporate Center is located at the corner of Northwest Harrington Highway (Route 14) and Canterbury Road (Route 15) in Milford.

“The city’s 2018 Strategic Plan identified the need for an industrial park within the city, to meet the growing demands for light industrial as well as e-commerce warehousing,” Swain pointed out. “Milford sits in a strategically good location with good access to Route 1, Route 113, Route 13, as well as access to the bay bridge from Route 14.”

Milford is in the center of the Delmarva peninsula, Swain said, making it a great location for an e-commerce distribution hub.

“The development of this business park will allow us to be competitive with other cities in the area and satisfy the need to create jobs within Milford,” she said.

A ground-breaking ceremony will be held on Tuesday, March 4 at 11 a.m.

“The Milford Corporate Center will boost the local economy and generate a variety of job opportunities in Milford,” Swain said.
