The Delaware Symphony Orchestra (DSO) has chosen Brian Raphael Nabors as its 2025 A.I. duPont Composer’s Award recipient.
The A. I. duPont Composer’s Award was instituted in 1985 by the DSO to recognize a distinguished living American composer or conductor who has made a significant contribution in the field of contemporary classical music.
Nabors, 34, is the assistant professor of Composition at Louisiana State University School of Music. Nabors earned a doctorate of Musical Arts and master’s of Music in Composition at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Music Theory & Composition from Samford University.
Nabors’ 2019 composition, Pulse, will open the DSO’s Friday, January 24 concert, Fukumura Conducts Dvořák, at The Grand Opera House in Wilmington. To hear this work performed live, purchase tickets at DelawareSymphony.org or 302.656.7442.
