Sixers center Joel Embiid is upgraded to questionable for Sunday’s game vs. Orlando Magic

ORLANDO — The 76ers listed Joel Embiid as questionable for Sunday night’s game against the Orlando Magic.

The seven-time All-Star center missed the past three games with a sprained left foot. He’s been sidelined a total of 23 games this season due to left knee swelling, left knee management, a sinus fracture, the sprained foot, and a three-game suspension.

The 2023 NBA MVP is averaging 24.4 points and 7.9 rebounds on the season, and has scored at least 25 points in his last five appearances.

Digging deeper into his statistics, Embiid has averaged 30.4 points, 9.8 rebounds, a steal, and a block in his last five games. He shot 50% from the field, 56.3% from three, and 89.5% from the foul line during the stretch. In his last appearance, against the Brooklyn Nets on Jan. 4, Embiid went 10-for-10 from the foul line.

It was his fourth straight game with at least 10 makes.

The Sixers (15-21) are coming off Friday’s 123-115 setback to the Western Conference last-place New Orleans Pelicans. It was Philly’s fourth loss in six games.

While Embiid could return, the Sixers will remain without several other key pieces.

Andre Drummond (sprained left toe) and Kyle Lowry (sprained right hip) will each miss their fourth consecutive game. Also, this will mark the 10th straight game that KJ Martin (left foot stress reaction) has missed. And Jared McCain (left knee meniscus surgery) was ruled out for the remainder of the season on Thursday.

Sunday’s matchup will be the season’s fourth and final series meeting against the Magic. Orlando (22-18) holds a 2-1 advantage.
